Charles Hornsby

Charles Hornsby has a PhD in African Politics from St Antony’s College, 1986, with a dissertation on “The Role of the Member of Parliament in Kenya”. He is the author of several academic papers on Kenya, co-author of Multi-Party Politics in Kenya (with David Throup, 1998) and author of the influential Kenya: A History Since Independence (2012). He acted as observer, journalist or freelance researcher in the 1992, 1997, 2002, 2013, 2017 and 2022 Kenyan general elections.

Charles Hornsby had the opportunity to live and work in Ghana (1995-8); Kenya (1999-2001) UK (2001-5); Netherlands (2005-8), Malaysia (2008-11) and Ireland (2012 to today).
