Cheikh Cissé
Dr Cheikh Cissé is an urban planner and geographer who has been on the list of qualifications of the Office Professionnel de Qualification des Urbanistes en France (OPQU) since 2015. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the production dynamics of new towns in Africa at the University of Besançon, co-directed with the École Polytechnique de Lausanne. An urban planner and consultant, he has taken part in calls for projects relating to African cities with consultancy firms in France. Cheikh Cissé is also a lecturer in Geography (in the Paris region) and a freelance analyst on economic and urban issues for international think-tanks and magazines. Since 2020, he has been co-founder and vice-president of the Académie de Recherche Stratégique Africaine, a French-registered think-tank focusing on multidisciplinary African and international issues. Dr Cissé's specialities are climate change, transport and mobility, climate resilience approaches, energy transition, African cities and new cities.
