Floris Burgers
Floris Burgers is a postdoctoral researcher at Radboud University Nijmegen. As an anthropologist, he is interested in the relationship between schools and society in the contexts of Uganda and the Netherlands. His academic work consists of two main projects: his PhD research on schooling and social change in Uganda and his postdoctoral project on equality of opportunity in Dutch formal education. His PhD thesis is based on 2 years of ethnographic fieldwork in a small village in Sironko, a rural district in Uganda, exploring how people give meaning to schooling, shaping it's social and cultural consequences. He carries out ethnographic research, building on a wide range of research methods, including surveys and experiments.
