Luca Pes
Luca Pes is a law professor with a dual background in private comparative law and legal anthropology. Currently an Associate Professor of Comparative Law at the University of Trento, Professor Pes teaches a range of courses, including an introduction to African law. His research interests span African law, immigration law, and family law, with a broader focus on topics at the intersection of social relations and legal systems, including legal anthropology and law and development.
Professor Pes serves on the steering committee for the University of Trento's Master’s program in Migration Law and Policies. Previously, he was a researcher at the University of Eastern Piedmont and a faculty member at the International University College of Turin. Professor Pes also held a visiting professorship at the Van Vollenhoven Institute in Leiden (2013–2014).
In 2011, Professor Pes earned a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the London School of Economics with a thesis exploring political relations in Mali.
