Paul Deutschmann
Paul Deutschmann is a PhD candidate at the African Studies Centre Leiden (ASCL). He is also a journalist specialising in West Africa, and covers political, economic and diplomatic issues in the region. His PhD is entitled "Data-driven political campaigns in West Africa: the use of political micro targeting strategies in elections in Senegal and Ivory Coast (2018-2022)".
Paul holds a Master in Political Science and in International Relations from the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2017. He was a Visiting Student at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at the University of Cairo in Egypt from 2015 to 2016 where he received a scholarship from the European Union Commission. During his year at the Cairo University, he was also as a research assistant in the Department of Political Science. Paul also holds a Bachelor of History and a Bachelor of Political Science from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
