Rishuai Chen
Rishuai Chen is a PhD candidate at the African Studies Centre Leiden. His research is funded by the CSC-Leiden University Scholarship. The working title of his project is ‘Digital practices and transnational connectivity among African merchant migrants in China’. He conducts research on African migration to China, with a particular focus on the role of everyday practices of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in complexifying migratory experiences and dynamic connections across the Global South.
Rishuai Chen completed a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from Beijing Normal University, Zhuhai, a Master’s degree (MSc) in Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and a Research Master's degree (MRes) in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
