Simplice Ayangma Bonoho

Simplice Ayangma Bonoho is an Assistant Professor of African History for the Université de Montréal, and a member of the University's Centre d'Études et de Recherches Internationales (CÉRIUM). Between 2021 and 2023, he was a lecturer in the History Department of the University of Yaoundé I (Cameroon) and a Banting postdoctoral fellow at Bishop's University in Sherbrooke (Quebec-Canada). Simplice also holds a PhD in Economic and Social History from the University of Yaoundé 1 (Cameroon), and a "Doctorat ès Lettres, Histoire Générale" from the University of Geneva (Switzerland). In 2022, he received the Lombard Odier Prize from the Swiss Forum for International Politics (FSPI), for the excellence of his thesis on multilateralism and the new challenges of multilateral diplomacy. His areas of research are the history of health in Africa, international organizations and African development. He is also interested in relations between Quebec, Canada, and French-speaking Africa, specifically in terms of health development. Simplice is the author of over twenty articles, both published and forthcoming. His book "L'OMS en Afrique centrale. Histoire d'un colonialisme sanitaire international (1956-2000)" was published in 2022 by Éditions Karthala.
