Taskin Quagliani

Taskin Quagliani is a PhD candidate in the Department of Cultural Anthropology at Utrecht University. Her work centres on structural and gendered power dynamics, gender-based violence, and gender norms, with a strong focus on South Africa. Her bachelor's research examined the role of gender norms in the perpetuation of gender-based violence in South Africa, while her master's thesis explored how gender performativity shapes interactions between female streamers on Twitch.TV and their audiences, as well as between streamers and the platform itself. She is currently a researcher on the ERC-funded project 'Making Sense of Communities of Arms' (ARMIES) where she will be conducting ethnographic fieldwork on the embodied use of firearms in sports and recreational practices in Cape Town, South Africa.
