Nawal El Saadawi

On 8 March International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated every year around the world. Egyptian feminist, medical doctor and novelist Nawal El Saadawi was one of the 100 Women of the Year chosen by Time magazine as part of a large celebratory project for IWD 2020. "Nawal El Saadawi  (27 October 1931 - 21 March 2021) has written many books on the subject of women in Islam, paying particular attention to the practice of female genital mutilation in her society. She has been described as 'the Simone de Beauvoir of the Arab World'.
