Africa Works! Conference: panel discussion with Akinyinka Akinyoade
Africa Works! is a biennial conference, organized by the Netherlands-African Business Council, to position, promote and market the African continent as a valuable trade and investment destination. The fourth edition takes place on 8 and 9 April at the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam. Africa Works! aims to inform, inspire, and connect the Dutch and European private sector with a multitude of companies and government representatives from Africa.
Theme
The theme of Africa Works! 2019 is Future African Cities. The first day of Africa Works will be dedicated to ‘Building Future African Cities’, while day 2 is dedicated to ‘Powering African Cities’.

Panel discussion
Africa Works! 2019 will be officially opened on 8 April by Rotterdam Mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb, to be followed by a panel discussion about Building Future African Cities. Panel members are, among others, ASCL senior researcher Akinyinka Akinyoade, Henk Ovink (Special Envoy for International Water Affairs), Arthur Minsat (Head of the OECD Development Centre’s Unit for Africa, Europe and Middle East), Anne-Marie Rankhorst (Slum Dwellers International) and Reinier de Graaf (OMA Office for Metropolitan Architecture).
