Akinyinka Akinyoade nominated for Teaching Prize of the Faculty of Humanities
The student members of the African Studies programme committee have nominated Akinyinka Akinyoade for the Faculty Education Award. Each year, the Faculty of Humanities awards the Faculty Education Prize to the best university lecturer. Akinyoade's nomination relates to the Master's programme, in which he teaches several courses, such as Africa in Practice, Intensive Methods Clinic, Researching Africa in the 21st Century, in addition to courses on Research Methods at the Research Master.
Akinyoade is a hydrologist turned demographer. He obtained a Doctoral degree in Development Studies with emphasis on Population and Rural Development at the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague. Akinyoade is a senior researcher at the ASCL and the Chair of its Researchers' Assembly.
Study associations, student members of the programme committees, or a group of at least three students can nominate faculty teachers for the Faculty Education Prize. The jury, consisting of the Education Committee, assesses the nominated lecturers on the basis of the quality of lectures, supervision and teaching material. The prize is accompanied by a cash prize of €1000. The award to one of the shortlisted nominees will take place during the opening of the faculty year in September.
