For English, see below. In zijn eerste blog voor Faces of Science schrijft promovendus Tycho van der Hoog over het doen van archiefwerk in Zuid-Afrika. In een verzameling publicaties van het ANC (African National Congress) ontdekte hij allerlei geheimen, bijvoorbeeld een recept voor molotovcocktails in een stripboek. En wat op het eerste oog een Engelse poëziebundel leek, bevatte teksten van de Communistische Partij van Zuid-Afrika.

Over Faces of Science
Faces of Science is een netwerk van promovendi uit allerlei vakgebieden uit heel Nederland. Zij schrijven en vertellen over hun onderzoek, maar ook over hun leven als jonge wetenschapper en wat er allemaal bij komt kijken. Zo kunnen zij aan jongeren laten zien hoe het is om wetenschapper te zijn. Faces of Science is een project van de KNAW, De Jonge Akademie en NEMO Kennislink.

In a collection of materials from the ANC (African National Congress) he discovered all kinds of secrets, for example a recipe for Molotov cocktails in a comic book. And what seemed like an English collection of poetry contained texts from the Communist Party of South Africa.

Faces of Science is a network of PhD students from all over The Netherlands. They write and talk about their research, but also about their life as a young scientist and what it involves.
