Grokipedia is no competitor to Wikipedia: "Impressive, but incomplete"

Jos Damen, former head of the ASCL Library, has written an article for the magazine Informatieprofessional. In it, he critiques Elon Musk’s newly launched Grokipedia, an AI-generated online encyclopedia. He argues that despite its rapid production of nearly 900.000 articles upon its inauguration, Grokipedia is slow, incomplete, boring, politically one-sided and heavily reliant on Wikipedia. Entries lack images, nuance and diverse perspectives. Furthermore, without Wikipedia-like volunteer editors, Grokipedia lacks neutrality and collaborative checks. The article concludes that Wikipedia’s open, anti-hierarchical model remains far more trust-worthy and resilient.
