ASC researchers Ineke van Kessel, Stephen Ellis and Jan-Bart Gewald were quoted extensively in a special supplement about Nelson Mandela published by Vrij Nederland. In the article 'Tussen hoop en teleurstelling: Anti-apartheidsactivisten blikken terug' (page 26-31) by journalist Anne-Lot Hoek, several former anti-apartheid activists and scientists look back on the anti-apartheid movement and the days the ANC still was a liberation movement. This discussion took place at a special meeting organized by Ineke an Kessel at the African Studies Centre in Leiden, June 2013.
