ISNI in AfricaBib
ISNI, the International Standard Name Identifier, is the ISO certified global standard number for identifying contributors to creative works, including researchers, writers, artists, performers, publishers, and more. It is part of a family of international standard identifiers, like ISBN and ISSN. It consists of 16 characters (16 digits, or 15 digits plus an X). ISNIs were recently added to records in the Dutch library catalogue GGC.
In the AfricaBib database, hosted by the ASC, more than 40,000 ISNI numbers have been assigned to authors, editors and ‘about’ persons. Clicking on the ISNI image behind a person's name performs a search on the specific ISNI number within the entire AfricaBib database. Give it a try!
