Marleen Dekker explains the Advisory Council on International Affairs' advice on social protection programmes

In June 2021, the Advisory Council on International Affairs - an independent body which advises the Dutch government and parliament on foreign policy - published the advisory report 'Social protection in Africa' on how the Netherlands can contribute effectively to social protection programmes for the poorest of the poor. In an online session, organised with the Academy of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the advice was presented to Director-General International Cooperation Kitty van der Heijden. A video of this session, in which the advice was explained and an interesting conversation ensued, is now also available. Including the chairman of the AIV Development Cooperation Committee Koos Richelle and the director of the African Studies Centre Leiden, Marleen Dekker, who is a member of the AIV Development Cooperation Committee.

Watch the video or read the advice.
