Mirjam de Bruijn about G5 Sahel Summit on nos.nl
ASCL researcher Prof. Mirjam de Bruijn was interviewed by nos.nl about the G5 Sahel Summit currently held in N'Djamena, the capital of Chad. The leaders of the G5 Sahel countries Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania and Niger, joined by the French President Macron via a videolink, are discussing anti-insurgency operations. According to Prof. De Bruijn, poverty, weak economic conditions, as well as social and political exclusion lead people to join jihadist groups.
