New photo exhibition Ebifananyi (Likenesses)

The exhibition 'Ebifananyi' shows photos of the Ugandan artists Deo Kyakulagira (1940-2000) and Musa Katurama (1916-1986), and is initiated by the Dutch photographer Andrea Stultiens. Since 2013 Stultiens is doing PhD research that focuses on photo collections in Uganda. Sometimes these collections are part of institutional archives, sometimes they are privately owned. In general, the photos haven't been shown to the public before. The photos are being digitized and shared through social networks, exhibitions and publications. Andrea Stultiens looks into the narrative possibilities of the photos and how these stories relate to other histories from and about Uganda.

The exhibition can be seen in the corridors of the 3rd floor (Pieter de la Courtgebouw / Faculty of Social Sciences) and in the ASC Library (ground floor). The opening of the photo exhibition took place on Thursday 15 January.
