Subregional Human Development Index. Hoofdsteden en regionale ongelijkheid

Onderzoek naar regionale ongelijkheid werd lange tijd bemoeilijkt door de gebrekkige en versnipperde gegevens. Er is nu een datamijn, de Subregional Human Development Index, waaruit wetenschappers, docenten, studenten en scholieren vrijelijk kunnen putten. Zo blijkt de regionale ongelijkheid in het tijdperk van neoliberalisme over de hele linie verminderd – maar niet qua inkomen.

Research into regional inequalities has long been hampered by deficient and fragmented data. Recently a new data mine has been developed, the Subregional Human Development Index, from which scientists, educators, students and schoolchildren can freely draw. For example, in the era of neoliberalism, regional inequality appears to have decreased across the board – but not in terms of income.
