Web dossier 'Africa's 100 best books of the 20th Century' mentioned by New York Times

In an obituary of South African writer Elsa Joubert (1922-2020) in the New York Times, the ASCL's web dossier on Africa's 100 best books of the 20th Century is mentioned. Elsa Joubert's world famous book Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena (1978, translated into English as 'The Long Journey of Poppie Nongena') is on the list. Die Swerfjare van Poppie Nongena deals with a black woman’s struggle to keep her family together in the face of oppressive apartheid laws.
