Doreen Kobusingye

Doreen Nancy Kobusingye  is a Ph.D researcher under the ‘Grounding Land Governance’ Programme, based at  the African Studies Centre in Leiden, the Netherlands. This programme is a collaborative effort of the African Studies Centre Leiden, the Centre for International Conflict Analysis and Management at the Radboud University, and the Faculty of Development Studies of the University of Science and Technology in Mbarara, Uganda. Within this programme, Doreen is responsible for a research project in Uganda.

In 2011 Doreen attained her MA degree in development studies specializing in decentralization and local governance at the faculty of development studies at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Her MA thesis is entitled: The Efficacy of Creating New Districts as a Channel of Service Delivery in Uganda: A case study of Kayunga District. In 2005 she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in development studies from Makerere University Kampala. Her dissertation is entitled: An Assessment of the Challenges of Rural Electrification in Enhancing Development: A case study of Mafubira Sub-county, Jinja District, Uganda.

Doreen worked as a teaching assistant in the faculty of development studies, Mbarara University of Science and Technology teaching Non Governmental Organizations and Development, and as a research assistant at KIN Development and Management Associates, Kampala.

The programme ‘Grounding Land Governance’ is funded by WOTRO Science for Global Development, a division within NWO, The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research.
