Abstract | The high incidence of malnutrition in Uganda among children of pre-school age must be attributed, to a considerable extent, to feeding habits. Various organisations try to improve the nutritional status of children through education programmes aiming at changing infant feeding habits. The first section of this article describes the different types of approach that are being used (medical approach; community development approach; company approach; social work approach; commercial approach; school approach; mass media). The second section discusses some of the strengths and weaknesses of the different programmes (approach; setting; content of the teaching; pupils; teachers; teaching methods; frequency and follow-up).
