New topographies of power? Africa negotiating an emerging multipolar world

This project has started with broad explorative research into Africa’s changing global linkages in an increasingly multipolar world. It covers such diverse aspects as migration, foreign investment including ‘land grabbing’, political dynamics, the influence of perceptions on connecting strategies and vice versa, and education, among other things building on the researcher’s earlier work on migration, Islamic charities, land governance, and elite dynamics. In the course of the project, the focus will be narrowed down depending on its findings and possible external funding. The project contributes to theoretical and methodological debates on multipolarity and Africa’s role in the current global restructuring.
