Guus van Westen
Guus (A.C.M.) van Westen is a lecturer and researcher with the International Development Studies Group at Utrecht University, where he teaches on issues ranging form development theories and globalisation to inclusive business and food systems. His research interests have moved from originally urban geography, housing and mobility in Sub-Saharan Africa (PhD 1995) to a current focus on issues of land governance, incusive business and food security. For over a decade, Guus has served as co-chair of LANDac (Netherlands Academy on Land Governance for Equitable and Sustainable Development) and is PI the WOTRO-funded 'Follow the Food' project that tracks the impact of foreign agribusiness interventions on local food security in several African countries. He is also a member of the Academic Advisory Council of the African Studies Centre Leiden, representing Utrecht University.
