Mady Ibrahim Kante
Mady Ibrahim Kanté holds two doctorates: one in political science, specializing in African studies, from Cairo University, and the other in Governance and regional integration from the Pan-African University of Yaoundé. A teacher-researcher, he is actively involved in promoting peace and security, as well as countering terrorism and violent extremism, with a particular focus on the Sahel region and West Africa. His recognized expertise in the fields of governance, security, conflict prevention and terrorist dynamics has enabled him to hold several academic and advisory positions across the African continent.
He is Director of the Sahel Academy for Peace & Security Studies, a lecturer at the University of Legal and Political Sciences in Bamako, and an instructor at the Alioune Blondin Bèye Peacekeeping School, the National Police School and the Mali War College. He is also a member of the scientific committee of the African Journal on the Prevention and Fight against Terrorism at the African Centre for Studies and Research on Terrorism (CAERT) of the African Union. From 2019 to 2023, he was an expert member of the African Advisory Group on Science and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction (Af-STAG-DRR) in Addis Ababa, under the aegis of the African Union.
Dr. Kanté has directed and supervised several research and consultancy projects. His work has contributed significantly to the development of security policies in Africa. His academic publications, available in Arabic, French and English, include six chapters in collective works, three books and 26 scientific articles published in specialized journals. A polyglot, he is fluent in Arabic, French and English.
