Mekuriaw Ayenew Asmare
Mekuriaw Ayenew Asmare has a Bachelor of Education (BEd) in English language from Bahir Dar University, a MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from Addis Ababa University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in TEFL with a focus on Context-based approaches to teacher CPD from Addis Ababa University. He worked as a teacher at Maichew Technical College upon the completion of my BEd. Then, he has been working as a teacher at Dilla University since 2008.
At the university, he teaches undergraduate and graduate students, mentoring pre-service teachers during the practicum programme, mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students with their thesis work, and conducting small to large-scale individual and group teacher research. In addition, he works as a book reviewer (in teacher education) for Vernon Press in America, an article editor for Sage journal based in America, and a peer reviewer for research articles in local and international publishers (in Taylor & Francis Journals based in United Kingdom). He has publications in Taylor & Francis and Elsevier journals and is working as a staff CPD Leader for the Higher Diploma Programme (HDP), which is held annually at Dilla University and other Universities, and as a teacher education colleges in Ethiopia.
He regularly attends short courses that focus on teaching and learning, student advising and mentoring, research article publishing, and research article peer reviewer and editor as part of his professional learning and development.
His research interests include Educational Research, Initial Teacher Education, Teacher Continual Professional Learning and Development (CPD), Assessment and Testing, Reflective Practice, Action Research, Communities of Practice, Education Quality, and Mentoring (pre-service, novice, and peer teacher mentoring).
