Nureni Aremu Bakenne
Bakenne Nureni Aremu holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from the North-West University, South Africa. He is currently a Research Fellow in the Department of Languages and Cultures, Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, Ghent University, Belgium. He also holds a Master of Science in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and a BA in Mass Communication from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, both in Nigeria. His major research interests include science journalism, indigenous language media, African Studies, cultural communication and digital humanities among others.
He has published works in reputable publishers such as Palgrave Macmillan, Springer, Routledge as well as journals of Contemporary and Lifestyle Journalism and Indigenous African Popular Music among others. He also has a chapter in African Language Media, 1st Edition (2023) published by Routledge and the very recent being a Chapter contribution in Africa's Engagement with the Responsibility to Protect: Perspectives from Emerging Countries published by Springer Nature (2024). His fellowship at Ghent University focuses on Yoruba print culture which spans over the course of 150 years, through the conceptual lenses of network theory prior to the colonial project of modernity.
