Tamu Alemu Gedamu

Lecturer in Civics and Ethical Studies | Debre Tabor University For over fifteen years, Tamu Alemu Gedamu has dedicated his professional life to the advancement of Ethiopian higher education. As a Lecturer in the Department of Civics and Ethical Studies at Debre Tabor University, I have served not only as an instructor but as a mentor, curriculum contributor, and a vital link between theoretical scholarship and the lived realities of his students and community. My extensive tenure has furnished me with an unparalleled, ground-level understanding of the political, social, and developmental dynamics shaping Ethiopia and the broader Horn of Africa region. Tamu has a strong engagement in research focusing on Ethiopian politics, governance, Human security, peace and development issues. I also deserved community service projects in the past 15 years.

Mr. Tamu’s academic foundation includes an MA in Political Science and a BA in Civics and Ethical Studies from Bahir Dar University, complemented by a Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching (PGDT) and a foundational college diploma in Social Science from Gondar College of Teachers’ Education. I have further enhanced my pedagogical expertise through the Higher Diploma Program (HDP) at Debre Tabor University.

By this time, I am PhD candidate at Bahirdar University: Bahir Dar, Ethiopia.

My research engagement is related to political insecurity in the horn of Africa including Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and Sudan. But the research engagement is not an easy task for individuals; I need cooperation with international communities like ASCL.
