Just published: African Studies Collection 49: Stigmatization of people associated with HIV can be devastating, even more so than the virus itself. It destroys the lives of HIV positive people and their loved ones. All too often in Ghana, those with no direct HIV experience do not see the depth of the impact of stigma on individuals, households and communities. This monograph, the result of fifteen months of ethnographic fieldwork in two communities in Ghana, brings to the fore the lived experiences of people infected with and affected by HIV from their own perspectives.

The African Studies Centre (ASC) in Leiden, the Netherlands and the Library of Congress’s Nairobi Office are pleased to announce that the database of the Library of Congress’s Quarterly Index of African Periodical Literature (1991-2011) has been incorporated in the ASC’s Africana Periodical Literature AfricaBib database as of 1 April 2013.

The annual LDE conference was held in the Aula at TU Delft on 8 April 2013. With Prof. Cees van Beers (TU Delft) and Prof. Peter Knorringa (ISS/EUR), the ASC’s André Leliveld is the trailblazer of the LDE theme entitled 'Innovation and Technology Networks with Africa'.
