Tracking Development

logo Tracking DevelopmentThe Tracking Development project ran between 2006 and 2012. It compared four countries in Southeast Asia (SEA) with four in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) in order to explain why the former region has developed rapidly in the past half century, and the latter has not. In particular, the question was whether the contrast could be explained by specific policy choices. The project was funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The follow-up to Tracking Development is Developmental Regimes in Africa (DRA), which explores the policies and governance conditions that are needed if Africa is to match the economic and social achievements of Southeast Asia.
