Conference on fifty years of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States
Primary tabs
What has the Organisation of African, Caribbean, and Pacific States (OACPS) achieved over the past fifty years? How have its partnerships and principles evolved in response to shifting global landscapes? What challenges and opportunities lie ahead as the OACPS navigates a rapidly changing world? These questions anchor a moment of critical reflection and renewed vision as we mark a milestone in global diplomacy and interregional solidarity.
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the OACPS, the African Studies Centre Leiden will host a full-day conference on Friday 6 June 2025. Bringing together scholars, policymakers, diplomats, development practitioners, and students, the conference offers a platform for deep engagement with the organisation’s legacy and relevance. Organised by the Collaborative Research Group Governance, Entrepreneurship, and Inclusive Development (GEID), the event will explore the OACPS’s impact across five decades, including its founding ideals, evolving partnerships, policy challenges, and future direction. Through keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues, and networking opportunities, we invite you to reflect, connect, and envision what lies ahead. Join us for a day of critical thought, shared purpose, and hopeful possibility.
All those interested in attending and contributing to the discussions are warmly welcome.
