Jan Abbink visiting fellow at the Center for African Area Studies, Kyoto University

ASCL senior researcher Prof. Jan Abbink has been invited to the Center for African Area Studies of Kyoto University, Japan, as a Visiting Research Fellow from 10 April until 20 August 2016. Abbink will give lectures and (continue to) work on several books, e.g. on a monograph of the history of Ethiopia and as an editor on the Africa Yearbook. He will also discuss possibilities for research cooperation between the Leiden and Kyoto study centres regarding the Horn of Africa, Ethiopia in particular. Abbink will also be preparing a lecture at the Goethe University of Frankfurt (23 May), which will be a retrospective on German ethnology of South Ethiopia.
