In 'Ondernemers in het wild' Olivier van Beemen investigates the non-profit organisation African Parks. The mainly white organisation, which manages 22 game parks, aims to protect Africa's untouched nature. Dr Harry Wels wrote a review of the book.

During the Slavery Memorial Year in the Netherlands, from 1 July 2023 until 1 July 2024, the ASCL Library regularly updated its web dossier on Dutch involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. Many new publications and web resources on Dutch involvement have now been included.

On 22 July 2003 Kenyan humourist, Wahome Mutahi, died at the Kenyatta National Hospital. He was popularly known as Whispers after the name of the column he wrote for The Daily Nation from 1982 to 2003, offering a satirical view of the trials and tribulations of Kenyan life.
