Bewuketu Dires
Bewuketu Dires has a BEd in Civic and Ethical Education with a Minor in History from Mekelle University, an MA in Peace and Security Studies from Addis Ababa University, and a PhD in Political Science and International Studies from Bahir Dar University. His current research focuses on exploring why Ethiopia is entangled in a vicious cycle of conflict.
During his three-month COIMBRA fellowship at Leiden University, he will conduct a thorough review of secondary sources related to his proposed project, leveraging the university's extensive resources and benefiting from the academic guidance of Professor Jan Abbink, a scholar with deep insights into Ethiopian politics. Additionally, he plans to incorporate primary voices when he returns to Ethiopia.
In addition to his project, he plans to attend various seminars to further his academic development. He hopes to present and share his insights on the political dynamics of Africa, particularly the Horn of Africa, whenever the opportunity arises.
